the beginning... it all began with a simple dream, literally.
the dream... a couple of weeks ago, on a rainy Sunday evening, i found myself in a huge, wall-less supermarket. wearing a big smile on my face, i was in the middle of paying for something i bought in front of an angelic cashier. i don’t remember what i bought but I definitely remember the feeling — i’m just so happy to pay. yes, i was swiping my paypal mastercard with a big smile and i just don’t know why. i felt happy and willing spending for something.. that big smile, i was swiping my card with a big smile. being a "tambay" ("istambay" or in English, standing-by or just chillin) can be very productive; hence, the evolution of “tambay™ New York” apparel store. the passion... i love wearing shirts designed with word(s)... yes, in just plain words — payak na (mga) kataga/salita. i love it more when people smile because of what i’m wearing or what’s printed on it. i’ve always wanted to share the feeling of happiness; hence, the plain-and-simple, printed apparel and accessories. i always wanted something that most global pinoys like me feel having something to relate to — something i’m proud to call “atin to”. something that i can make me smile while keeping Philippines in my thoughts.
the experience... you see, our apparel and accessories are made of high quality and sustainable materials and absolutely very affordable. the designs are very simple but uniquely elegant "taste" (style)— Pilipino kasi eh! most importantly, it will definitely make you and your foreignoy friends and loved ones smile. you just have to live the experience.
the mission... just like you, we find meaning in what we do. it feels great to share happiness. tambayNY's mission is supported by ongoing programs and partnership with Kara David’s Project Malasakit to help build livelihood/school infrastructures and to educate needy kids/youth from the Aeta and Mangyan communities in far-flung areas in the Philippines. ang sarap ng feeling, eka nga. much more, every time you buy, wear and share #malasakit (=compassion) apparel or products, you’re spreading good vibes and Filipino compassion all over the world. it’s a wonderful feeling to be happy when everyone’s happy — we’re on the same mission. let’s dream together.
